Projects for 2010 (if I've the time)

Well a new year around the corner and apart from all the usual jobs on the house what will I be doing in the new year? First off will be some 10mm Mamluks from Magister Militum which my good lady and offspring got me for christmas these will be based for Warmaster,Finish off my Italian Condotta army up to 2000pts (its at 1500pts at the moment), paint and base my 6mm Baccus ECW armies not sure what system to base these for at the moment, I'm also looking at maybe getting a castle from Kallistra. and make some more 6mm and 10mm terrain.I think thats it ...BUT with some trips planned to some wargames shows I'm sure other projects will come up.... oh and take some photos and post them and try and do a battle report and post this( after seeing Steve's (Yorke's) reports and Jason's (Jet) reports I think it would be a good idea, but I don't think will be as good theirs but its worth a go.

Rebase.....Not agian!!!!...why?

Ive not posted in ages so here's where its at, My long time friend and regular Impetus opponent Mr Burns has moved to sunny Scotland (Good luck Tony).
So Its back to club play which is okay, there's a couple good of clubs in my area so should always be able to get a game. But the only game people are playing in 10mm is Warmaster which happens to be my second game of choice. Ive got all my 10mm armies based for Impetus so whats a man to do .....That's right REBASE!!.No point having all those armies and not using them. I will keep my 6mm armies based for Impetus and look at getting a 15mm army for Impetus also. And thats where its at. I will post some photos as soon as Ive taken some.

They are a bit BIG....

I know its a site for 6/10mm armies but I had the chance to build a 28mm army and couldn't not do, so just the one time here are some progress shots as you can see no banners fitted yet and bases need finishing, but this is it so far.Based for Impetus.

Not posted for a while so heres the latest...Normans.

After much deliberation and being based, painted and representing various armies for various rule sets over the last 2 years Ive finally decided to base my painted Normans(10mm Pendraken)for Warmaster that way they can be the standard Norman army or I can take them as Anglo-Normans using the medieval armies book. Also at the moment im trying to get some other gamers interested in 10mm war gaming and the Normans and Warmaster in my opinion are ideal for this. Photos to follow.

The Swiss!?!!??

Here's some photos of the Swiss army that are giving The Burgundians trouble at the moment. They belong to my regular Impetus opponent Tony (who's Hussite's can be seen in some old posts on this Blog) Miniature's are from Pendraken.

Just two things to say.

Just two things to say. The Swiss are hard as nails when three ranks deep in Impetus (it ended historically and the Burgundians where massacred (didn't have my camera so sorry no pics of battle to be honest they would have been photos of me putting army back in box!!). And take a look at this Blog if you haven't all ready done so I think Ruarigh is involved and it a must for anyone interested in 6mm and Wars of the Roses.

To be 6mm? or to be 10mm? that is the question.

After the comment made by Miniature Minds (Thanks) about 6mm,10mm figures. For me Ancients is defanently 6mm scale the vastness of armies in this scale I think really suits the period even if you don't pack out the base, also the range available is very good in this scale. As for the Medieval period, for me 10mm, still making the armies look BIG but without the vastness of Ancients. Also gives some room for Heraldry etc on the figures, also a better range is available at the moment for Medieval in 10mm.

Burgundians so far and Late Crusaders the fall of Acre.

Had the camera out so took some photos of the Burgundians so far and my army for the late crusades/ fall of acre with Hospitaller military order, Cypriot knights and a unit of crusader knights sent by the pope. The standards and colours are of the order of Hospitallers(late), the Cypriots and the coat of arms of Jean de villiers who was master of the Hospitallers in 1291 when Acre fell.Burgundian figures are from Kallistra and based for Impetus and Late Crusaders are from Magister Militum and based for Warmaster

Burgundians, the first four units.

Well here are the first four units of my 10mm Burgundian Army. The standard on the pike is of Josse de Lalaing (14th Company).I'm trying to be as historical as possible with the colours blue and white for the cav etc, the red cross of St Andrew here and there the Burgundians seem to have been quite a colourful army over all.

ARRAGRH!!!! Not Another Rebase?....Oh Yes:-)

After deciding to base all new 10mm armies on the 10mm base sizes and seeing how good they look (the first four units for the Burgundians are finished, photos to follow when Ive time to take some). This weekend I re based my 10mm Lancastrian army from 15mm Impetus bases sizes to the Impetus 10mm base size from three rows down to two.Figures go further, the army hasn't lost its mass appeal and its allowed me to make up a more historical army IE: Men at arms dismounted and just one unit mounted (Hobilars) to stop anybody running away from the battlefield and mopping up during the enemy rout(Hopefully).

The start of a Burgundian Ordonnance army for Impetus.

Having been undecided on which army to collect next I've gone for a Burgundian Ordonnance army. I will be using Kallistra 10/12mm miniatures having not used these before. I picked up the army this weekend from the Phalanx war games show and I have to say these figures very nice a good cast and being a 12mm appose to a 10mm there's a little more detail. I'm going to base them on 10mm base size (60 x 30 Inf/Art and 60 x 40 cav)instead of 15mm base size like I normally do hopefully I wont use as many figures this way. I will put on 12 fig's for Inf, 8 for Skirmish foot, 8 for light Cav and 10 for Heavy Cav so a big change in basing etc for me. Here are some photos of a couple of units before painting and basing they aren't great photos but you get the idea ie:This is the beginning.

Answers to questions.

Just to answer some of the comments, the base sizes I use for the Impetus rules are the ones listed for 15mm figures 8cm x 3cm for foot and 8cm x 6cm for cav Ive just re based my Early Imperial Romans from Warmaster to Impetus, base sizes allow for units of 80 foot!!looks great! I will post some photos when I taken some.I will also take some close ups of my Wars of the Roses Armies and post.
I used to game with 15mm but I no longer have any armies in this scale so not able to post.
Hope that's answered some of the comments thanks for looking.
